Android Customization: Top 5 icon packs to get you started

Android customization has always been a badge of honor worn by fans of Google’s OS. And there are seemingly infinite ways to tweak and customize the experience exactly to one’s liking—not something easily achieved in other ecosystems. So where does one start when beginning the customizing journey? Well, here’s a good place to begin. And once you’ve done that, there are also many, many great icon packs out there that’ll help you achieve the exact look that you want.
As handsome and functional as Android Lollipop might be, the bright, flat look doesn’t appeal to everyone. And there’s just something about tweaking an OS to reflect your unique personality. Maybe you want more rounded icons, or maybe you want something more transparent. Hey, there’s something for everyone, which is such a big draw of Android in the first place.
Like everything Android, the video above in no way encompasses the breadth of what the ecosystem has to offer. There’s a very good chance we left some great icons pack out, in which case you should tell us your favorites in the comments down below. We’ve included a list of the icon packs mentioned in the video, along with direct links to them in the Google Play store.
Do you have a favorite? We’d love to hear what you think. Combining a solid launcher with an icon pack can be a liberating experience, especially if you’re into customizing your device. These are just some of our favorites.

Samsung Galaxy S10+ review (king of andriod)

Summary The Galaxy S10+ is exactly what you’d expect out of Samsung’s tenth flagship handset. After all, the company’s been making these for a decade, and knows what works. The S10+ is a winning mix of powerful performance, long-lasting battery, stunning display and capable cameras. There’s also a welcome software overhaul and the ability to wirelessly charge compatible devices, making this a surprisingly useful handset. You’ll have to live with minor quirks like an inconsistent fingerprint sensor, lousy AR emoji and a subpar digital assistant, but none of those keep the S10+ from being an ultimately superb phone Displays One of my biggest questions going into this review was whether I'd be bothered by the "hole punch" display or if I'd get used to it over time. I go back and forth on this, and that's probably because the cutout for the camera only bothers me in specific instances. On the home screen, or in apps like Uber o...

New Google Wallet reportedly planned to take on Apple Pay

New Google Wallet reportedly planned to take on Apple Pay Google Wallet was one of the first mainstream mobile payment options in the United States, but the launch was marred by lack of broad carrier support initially. A competing platform, SoftCard, may have been partially to blame; it’s a service developed by AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon that competes directly with Google Wallet. Now, facing stiff competition from Apple Pay, Google is looking to revamp its Wallet initiatives with a new version,  The Wall Street Journal  said Friday. Google is apparently hoping to relaunch Google Wallet during Google I/O in May, the news outlet said.  The Wall Street Journal  explains a few of the reasons why Google will continue to face headwinds, however, including Samsung’s new acquisition of LoopPay. With its own service on the horizon, Samsung may not be as quick to adopt Google’s option. “A person familiar with the Samsung-LoopPay deal said big smartphone makers...

Samsung's new Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge put design first

Samsung Electronics Co. rebooted its premium Galaxy smartphone line with the S6 and S6 Edge, featuring a three-sided screen, as the South Korean company tries to reverse profit declines and market-share losses to Apple Inc. The devices unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on Sunday include payment software that makes them compatible with about 90 percent of card readers. The phones, which feature metal bodies and a fingerprint reader for added security, will go on sale in 20 countries starting April 10. Samsung is trying to regain competitiveness after Apple in September released iPhones with bigger displays, a market segment pioneered by Galaxy S models. The premium Edge model has a screen that extends onto the right and left sides of the phone, adding real estate to access applications and enabling a feature that causes the phone to glow along the edges to alert a user to calls or texts even when placed face down. “We codenamed the project ‘Zero,’ a...
